Dr. Petrus (Peter) J. van Oevelen

Director of the International GEWEX Project Office

Dr. Petrus (Peter) J. van Oevelen is the Director of the International GEWEX Project Office in which capacity he supports and facilitates the science collaborative activities around the world as part of the World Climate Research Programme. He obtained his PhD from Wageningen University, The Netherlands. His scientific background is in Hydrology and Earth Observation from both airborne and space borne platforms across a wide range of applications and sensors. From an early age his interest was drawn to water and how it impacted people and it has been a central theme in his professional career ever since.
